This rug is an outstanding example of a silk Persian rug from Qom (Ghom), ranked among the most prestigious and sought-after artistic weavings in the world. Made from pure silk, it is exceptionally soft to the touch and brilliantly lustrous to the eye—the silk fibers catch the light and create a luxurious sheen that gives the rug an almost three-dimensional effect.

The rug’s design follows the classic medallion composition, with a central motif framed within an elliptical field reminiscent of a Persian garden—ordered, balanced, and rich in symbolism. The main field is set against a soft green background that feels calm and noble. In Persian design, green often symbolizes growth, eternity, and spirituality. The ornamentation is exceptionally rich: stylized flowers, arabesques, and geometric motifs are rendered with remarkable precision, reflecting a high knot density—typical of Qom, where it often exceeds one million knots per square meter.

The rug’s border, with decorative bands in contrasting tones (olive greens, golds, reddish hues), further frames the whole and creates a sense of depth. The composition is balanced yet never rigid—this is precisely where the artistic excellence of these masterpieces shows.

In an interior, such a rug acts as a quiet yet refined accent, adding restrained luxury, cultural depth, and a sense of timelessness. It suits both classic and contemporary settings, especially spaces dominated by natural materials and muted tones—where the green silk can truly shine.

This rug is not merely a decorative piece, but a work of art with symbolic weight and historical heritage, woven with patience, expertise, and sensibility—qualities increasingly rare today.
