Persian carpets from the city of Bidjar (Bijar), also known as the “iron city of Iran,” are considered among the most durable and highest quality hand-knotted carpets in the world. Their exceptional density and precise craftsmanship ensure remarkable longevity, making them treasured heirlooms passed down through generations.

Aesthetically, Bidjar carpets are distinguished by refined, often symmetrical patterns with rich ornamentation. Traditional motifs (such as medallions, floral arabesques, and geometric forms) interweave with balanced color combinations. Warm tones of red, deep blue, and beige predominate, though increasingly one finds examples in softer, cooler shades – including subtle bluish tones, as you mention.

All authentic Bidjar carpets are crafted from 100% natural materials – the finest quality wool, often from local sheep breeds, and occasionally with silk accents for added refinement. Colors are naturally derived from plants, roots, and minerals, giving them exceptional depth and subtlety unattainable with synthetic dyes.

Beyond exceptional aesthetics, natural materials ensure the carpet “breathes” – meaning it does not retain unpleasant odors and is pleasant to the touch and healthy for the living environment.
