Persian Carpet Kashan

The city of Kashan is located 250 km south of Tehran, within a large oasis bordering the Kavir Desert in central Iran. This region has been inhabited since ancient times, holding significance during the Sasanian dynasty and later with the advent of Islamic culture. Kashan carpets are crafted from the finest kork wool (from the neck of lambs), utilizing the asymmetrical knotting technique (Persian knot), which renders the carpets exceptionally fine and highly durable. Characteristic features include diverse floral patterns, arabesques, palmettes, and leaf motifs, a design ideal for classic interior decor. These carpets represent the legacy of Iran’s golden age of carpet weaving (16th and 17th centuries), when Shah Abbas was a great patron of this art.
