Wool Persian carpet from the city of Kashan, whose main aesthetic feature is the repeating boteh pattern – an archetypal motif of Persian textile art, often interpreted as a stylized flame, droplet, bud, or even a symbol of fertility and eternal life.

The central field of the carpet is filled with orderly rows of boteh motifs, carefully arranged in a symmetrical grid. This repetition creates a visual rhythm that is both serene and rich. Each boteh is oriented in the same direction, giving a sense of order – characteristic of classical Kashan compositions.

The carpet’s border continues the story with multiple bands of decorative borders, where the boteh pattern is repeated on a larger scale, combined with finer geometric and floral details that further emphasize the depth and refinement of the overall design.

Soft, natural shades predominate: an ivory base with slightly warm tones, with patterns in grey, bluish, olive green, and brown. Reddish-brown accents provide subtle contrast without being intrusive. This gentle color harmony creates an exceptionally elegant, almost soothing effect, making the carpet an ideal choice for light, serene interiors.

The carpet is hand-knotted from high-quality natural wool, giving it a warm, soft feel and a slightly matte luster. Natural wool also allows the colors to “breathe” and develop even deeper character over the years. The foundation is cotton, which provides the carpet with stability and structure.

Kashan carpet with boteh pattern is not merely decoration, but a subtle narrative of tradition, balance, and beauty in repetition. Its serene, repeating aesthetic functions as a visual meditation – timeless and refined.
