The Persian rug Moud (also spelled “Mood”) comes from eastern Iran, from the region south of the city of Birjand, and is an outstanding example of a balanced interplay of elegance, refinement, and traditional Persian symmetry. It is known for its exceptional precision in patterning, fine wool, and a clear, repeating structure, giving it an almost hypnotic visual effect.

The rug’s central field is covered with a fine Herati pattern that repeats rhythmically across the entire surface. This geometric-floral motif, made up of rhomboid shapes, petals, and stylized fish, creates a sense of perfect symmetry and order. The background reads almost like fabric, densely sprinkled with tiny details in warm and cool tones—dominated by shades of blue, deep red, and beige, with accents of light blue and gold.

The rug’s border is multi-layered, with a rich outer band where larger floral motifs in pastel and blue tones gently frame the inner field. This frame ties in beautifully with the central composition and further highlights the precision of the overall design. Thanks to its balance and soothing color palette, the Moud rug is highly versatile—suited to both classic and more contemporary interiors where an elegant yet non-dominant decorative element is desired.

Moud rugs are typically woven from high-quality wool, often with added silk highlights that give them a subtle sheen. The knot density is high, reflecting the craftsmanship and precision of the weave. This rug is not merely a floor covering, but an artistic expression of Persian cultural heritage—subtle, refined, and exceptionally durable.
