The image shows a traditional nomadic decorative textile from Iran, most likely a horse trapping (Persian: khorjin or asb-afraz), typical of nomadic tribes such as the Kashgai, Luri, Bakhtiari, or Qashqai.

The upper part features a hand-woven geometric border with diamond and cross motifs in vibrant colors – red, orange, purple, and yellow. This band serves as an aesthetic accent, highlighting the weaver’s skill and tribal identity.

Below it hang several rows of dense tassels and fringes in natural warm tones: brown, orange, ochre, olive green, and cream. These tassels serve multiple purposes – they are not only decorative but also have a protective function against the evil eye and a symbolic role in rituals. Their multi-layered arrangement creates a rich, textured effect that moves with the animal’s gait, enhancing the visual impact.

This item was most likely placed on the back of a horse, mule, or camel, especially during festivals, weddings, or migrations when animals are specially adorned. Alternatively, it could be part of tent furnishings, hanging as a decorative curtain or part of the interior of a nomadic tent (black tent or chador).

Overall, this is a characteristic ethnographic artifact with rich symbolism, linked to a mobile lifestyle, tribal identity, and ritual significance. Such items are highly valued today from both an aesthetic and anthropological perspective.
