Turkman carpet restoration

Last month, we restored a beautiful Turkmen carpet, about a hundred years old, at the Farzad gallery and master workshop on Gornji trg in Ljubljana. The carpet, as its owner told us, came from faraway Constantinople (Istanbul) to Gornji grad decades ago. It was brought with her by a lady who was once a court lady at the Constantinople court and received it as a gift or as a kind of severance pay when she left. Due to the woolen base, the work was a bit more demanding, but our master did it with precision and mastery. We brought the hand-spun wool from Iran and then added the right color nuance.

The colors on the carpet are, of course, natural (vegetable) and after cleaning they shone again in all their beauty.
