A beautiful example of nomadic textile from Iran, originating from tribal groups such as Qashqai, Luri, or Bakhtiari. Such textiles have been and continue to be an important part of the daily life of Iranian nomads—used as blankets, floor coverings, bed covers, or carrying bags.

This piece features vertically arranged stripes, characteristic of djajim—a type of rug woven in strips, often composed of multiple pieces later hand-sewn together. The pattern is highly geometric, with alternating bands of motifs, among which diamonds, stars, and small repeating geometric symbols are clearly recognizable. The central band contains repeating circular or rhomboid elements in contrasting colors, forming a central axis of symmetry.

The color palette is typical of nomadic textiles—dark blue, indigo, red, orange, ochre, and white. The colors are most likely derived from natural dyes such as indigo (for blue), madder root, and walnut shells for brown tones.

This is a piece with distinct functional and aesthetic value, as nomadic textiles have always combined utility (insulation, portability) with rich ornamentation that expresses tribal identity, social status, and protective symbolism.

Due to its structure and distinctive form, this piece can be identified as a djajim—a type of flatweave particularly popular in the regions of western Iran. Weaving such pieces requires great skill and knowledge of traditional patterns, which are often passed down from generation to generation.
